Zutter Bow-it-All Tutorial * Double Tail Bows

The winner of our Bow-it-All Tool giveaway will be posted this afternoon.  Please stop back after 12pm (noon) Eastern time to see if you are our lucky winner!!

Hi everyone.  This is Bonnie from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Today I will be demonstrating some pretty Double Tail Bows with my Bow-it-All Tool using both one and two colors of ribbon.

I'm hoping those of  you who have this fabulous tool are using it!
If you're still learning, grab your tool and some ribbon and tie along with me in the video tutorial below.

Here are some sample projects created with the bows I made in the video you will see below.

The tag and the holiday card below are both made using digital images from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  They sell a large number of digital images and they also offer wonderful freebies on their blog, so I encourage you to visit them there.

The ribbon is a 7/8" Purple Organza Ribbon and the tassel is made with a mix of colors of our 20lb Hemp Cording.  This cording is 3-ply and I separated the strands which gave me the thinner wavy threads in the tassel.  I added a white Mulberry Cottage Rose to the bow center.  The edges of the tag layers were all distressed with my Distrezz-it-All tool from Zutter Innovative.

Below is a very quick and easy card with the bow being the main focus.  The bow is made with 5/8" Red Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon.  I simply printed out my image and layered it on red and white cardstock on a dark brown base and added the bow..  Those of you who know my work already know I don't know when to stop with the layers.  But I love the look.....

The digital sentiment on the card below is from Create with TLC.
I love having digital sentiments on hand to use for quick cards.
This bow is made using Hot Pink and Pearl Pink Delicate Stitched Satin.  For this bow, rather than having double tails on my bow, I used the pearl pink tails for my back ribbon and used it to secure my bow around my card.  This is a great look too.

Bow-it-All Tutorial * Double Tail Bows

As I said in the video, if you are just starting out with the Bow-it-All Tool, make sure you are working with a friendly ribbon type.
There is a reason why almost all the Bow-it-All video tutorials on YouTube (besides mine) seem to use some sort of Organza Ribbon.  This ribbon performs beautifully and is very forgiving if your first few bows aren't quite perfect.  The spooled solid color organza at Really Reasonable Ribbon is quite inexpensive at around 10-cents per yard.   I recommend just about any type of organza to practice with along with our Delicate Stitched Satin because it's very lightweight AND inexpensive.  Seam Binding is another great choice as well as our Wrinkled Ribbon.  Practice with one or more of these ribbon styles and when you feel more comfortable, branch out to different ribbon styles.

You can make gorgeous bows with any type of ribbon on this wonderful tool,
but some are a bit more difficult to maneuver than others.  Set yourself up for success with the right ribbon styles to practice with when you are learning and you will soon be adding gorgeous bows to all your projects.

If you entered the RRR giveaway to win a Bow-it-All Tool, head over to the RRR Blog today after 12pm (noon) Eastern time to see if you won.

  2. Fantastic tutorial. I save them and play them with lots of pauses while I am making a bow.
